To fully protect ourselves, we're gonna need to wear NASA space suits whenever we're away from home. Upon return, we will need to enter a double doored decontamination chamber and be sprayed with a bug disenfectant before opening the inner door to our home. We would also need to decontaminate anything we brought into our home the same way. Try doing that with perishable or fresh foods. And even that wouldn't necessarily kill every possible bug. To fully solve the problem, we'd need to raise all our own fruits and vegetables in our own home gardens and completely cut off all interaction with the outside world for the duration of the epidemic.

Not many people have this sort of equipment at home. A sun deck, an attached garage, maybe, but you're not going to find home upgrades like this outside of a fully isolated, military grade biohazard lab. Not even Home Depot or Crafty Beaver can deliver this type of equipment. A multimillion dollar contract with Raytheon or Bechtel Engineering could get one built for you in about 8 to 10 months, but they're back ordered until 2025 at the earliest.
